POULTNEY, Vt. – Sam Goda (Eliot, Maine) scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Maine Maritime to a 69-59 win over Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) basketball Friday evening. Goda was one of three Mariners (3-3, 1-1 NAC) to post a dozen points, halting Maine Maritime's skid at three games.  

In addition to the 12 points from Goda, MMA got a dozen from Alexis Bennett (Freedom, Maine) and Maggie Smith (Bath, Maine). Green Mountain's (2-6, 0-3 NAC) Chelsea Paul led all scorers with 21 points, while Jacque Caster contributed 16. Millicant Hooper posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. The Eagles' starters accounted for all 59 of their points, while Maine Maritime got 26 points from six players off of its bench.

Green Mountain led by as many as 11 points midway through the first half, but Crystal Clark's (Chelsea, Maine) bucket and one started a 15-4 Mariners run that finished with Goda knotting the score at 29-29.

Maine Maritime took a 38-36 lead into the locker room.

Caster managed to tie things back up at 43-43 with 15 minutes left in regulation, but Casey Everest (Portland, Maine) scored five points on an 11-0 run to put the Mariners in front for good. Everest's seven points led Maine Maritime's bench.

The Mariners return to action tomorrow afternoon at Castleton.
