Pilgrims Blank Maine Maritime

CASTINE, Maine – Samantha Levine (Windham, Maine) scored a pair of goals to lead New England College to a 3-0 win over Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer Saturday evening. The Pilgrims improved to 8-8-1 (4-4 NAC), while Maine Maritime closes the regular season at 5-9-2 (2-5-2 NAC).

Levine netted the game-winning goal midway through the 30th minute, collecting a long pass from midfield. Her shot from the top of the box went in the low, right side. She added an insurance tally early in the second half, heading home an Alyssa Krause (Northfield, N.H.) corner kick.

New England outshot Maine Maritime 21-4. Tricia Sardagnola (Shrewsbury, Mass.) turned away four shots to keep a clean sheet. The Mariners' Taylor O'Malley (Middletown, R.I.) stopped nine of the Pilgrims' advances. New England got an additional insurance marker in the waning moments of the contest from Amber Rose (Southampton, Mass.).

New England College returns to action on Tuesday, closing out the regular season with Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference play. Maine Maritime will wait for the NAC standings to sort themselves out to learn its playoff fate.
