Henniker, N.H -- New England College shutout Maine Maritime 3-0 in a North Atlantic Conference women's soccer match Saturday. The Pilgrims improved to 6-3 NAC, 8-8-2 overall, while the Mariners dropped to 2-5-1, 3-11-2.

The Pilgrims got on the board just 17 minutes into play as Kristen Walker netted her seventh goal of the season putting in a nice pass off the foot of senior Jillian Zanine.

Walker then put the Pilgrims up 2-0 in the 35th minute of play after she received a pass from first-year midfielder Emily Gubbins and dribbled around a Mariner defender and converted on a one-on-one with the goalie.

Walker and Gubbins teamed up again just over a minute later as Walker put in a cross from Gubbins which extended the Pilgrim lead to 3-0 and made Walker the NEC all-time leading goal scorer.

Neither team would muster a goal in the second half. Maine Maritime's best scoring opportunity came in the 57th minute when Sarah Brochu would got a nice pass from Victoria Cooper but missed just wide of the net.

Tricia Sardagnola collected six saves NEC, while Taylor O'Malley stopped eight shots.

Both teams will await the NAC playoff seedings as the Pilgrims will host an opening round game and Maine Maritime will be on the road for the opening round.
