Maine Maritime honored its student-athletes at the annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Athletics Banquet in the Alfond Student Center Thursday. Annie Koensgen and Gavin Cote were honored as Senior Scholar Athletes and Leah Jackson and Nicholas George took home the Athlete of the Year awards for 2013-14, and 58 students were named Scholar Athletes (3.3 GPA and higher).

Koensgen is a four-year member of the women's soccer team and played club lacrosse last season. The Power Engineering Technology major was an All-North Atlantic Conference Second Team selection as a junior and carries a 3.38 grade point average. She was a two-time captain of the soccer team and was a captain of the lacrosse team.

Cote is a four-year member of both the football and lacrosse teams. He's earned All-NAC Academic honors and All-NEFC Academic honors the past two years. The Marine Systems Engineering major boasts a 3.55 GPA, the highest of any male senior athlete at Maine Maritime.

Nicholas George became the second men's soccer player in as many years to earn Male Athlete of the Year honors. George was an All-NAC First Team selection and NAC Player of the Year. 

Jackson became the second student-athlete to earn Female Athlete of the Year honors three-straight years. Jackson was an All-NAC Second Team selection in basketball and was an All-NAC First Team selection and earned Player of the Year honors in softball in the spring of 2013.

Two athletes and one team received All-Academic honors from the coaches associations of their respective sports. Matt Methot and the women's cross country team were named All-Academic by the US Tack and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and Nick George was a Regional All-Academic selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
