CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy announced the hiring of
Alex Flynn as an athletic trainer in its sports medicine department.
Flynn comes to Castine after graduating from Plymouth State University in May with a Master of Science in athletic training. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in allied health sciences from Plymouth State in May 2025.
"I am very excited to be joining the sports medicine staff here at MMA and look forward to helping our athletes stay healthy and perform at their best," Flynn said.
While at Plymouth State, Flynn served as an athletic training student with numerous programs, including men's soccer, women's basketball, softball, football, and, most recently, indoor track and field.
This past spring, Flynn worked with the Penn State football program as an athletic training student. He holds certification in athletic training, a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification, and credentials as both a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and National Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT).
"We are very excited to welcome Alex to our athletic training staff," Assistant Athletic Director for
Sports Medicine Chad Bartlett said. "Alex brings a new perspective through his various clinical and personal experiences, including his background as a former collegiate athlete and EMT. Those experiences will be a great asset to our staff. Welcome, Alex!"
