Box Score NASHUA, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy hung on for a 58-50 victory over Daniel Webster on Tuesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium in the first ever meeting between the two programs. 
Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine) scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Mariners in the win, while adding seven rebounds. Jillian Perron (Skowhegan, Maine) added a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Kristi Willey (Topsham, Maine) just missed a double with nine points and a game-best 15 boards for the Mariners, while 
Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) chipped in with nine points.
 
Kayla Free and Natasha Santana scored 13 points each to lead the Eagles, while Free added nine rebounds. 
The two teams exchanged the lead three times in the first half, with Maine Maritime opening a seven point lead early on (15-8) before Daniel Webster answered with a 17-2 run to take their largest lead of the game, 23-15, with four minutes remaining in the first half. The Mariners responded by closing the half outscoring the Eagles 11-2 and took a 28-27 lead into the locker room.
Maine Maritime built a seven-point lead on a Perron layup four minutes into the second half, but the Eagles followed with a 9-1 run ending with a Free three-pointer to take a 38-37 lead at the 14-minute mark.
Badeen capped off a 7-1 Maine Maritime run with a three from dead center to give the Mariners a 50-43 lead with four minutes to go, and the eventual victory.
Maine Maritime will return to action this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they travel to Husson University for a North Atlantic Conference matchup.
