STANDISH, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed 11th out of 12 teams on Saturday at the Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by the Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
The Mariners were led by Sierra James' (Campton, N.H.) 27th place finish among 129 runners on the 5k course. James recorded a time of 23:03.5, followed by Caroline Martin (Scarborough, Maine) in 55th with a time of 26:15.9, and Elin Sonesson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) in 65th with a time of 27:45.4. Charlette Bradley (Slidell, La.) finished 67th with a time of 28:13.1 and Catherine Bailey (Scarborough, Maine) placed 73rd with her time of 29:22.
Emmanuel College took the team victory with six runners in the top 10, and Saint Joseph's Heather Eaton placed first overall with a time of 20:13.5.
The Mariners return to action next Saturday, October 17th at the State of Maine Championship hosted by Bowdoin College.
