Lewis Lifts Mariners Over Pilgrims in Overtime

HENNIKER, N.H. – Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va) scored in the 99th minute to lift the Mariners over New England College in overtime on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference play.

The two teams battled back-and-forth to a scoreless tie, sending the game into overtime. Lewis grabbed the game-winner, her second of the season and team leading eighth goal of the year, on a pass from Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) to give the Mariners their first victory over NEC in five matchups.

Maine Maritime outshot the Pilgrims 9-7. Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) recorded three saves in her sixth shutout of the season, and Pilgrim's keeper Mackenzie Meegan finished the game with five saves.

The Mariners improve to 7-6-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the NAC, while the Pilgrims fall to 8-8-1 on the season and 5-3 in the NAC.

Maine Maritime returns home to Castine on Tuesday, October 20th for Senior Night against Thomas College at 5:00 p.m.
