Conference Opener: Over the last five seasons both the Mariners and the Engineers are 1-4 in conference openers. The Engineers grabbed their last NEFC opener win last season against Salve Regina, while the Mariners' last conference opening win came in 2011 against Mass.-Dartmouth.
Series History: The Engineers hold a 3-0 all-time record over the Mariners. The first-ever meeting between the two teams came in 2008, with the Engineers taking a narrow 42-39 victory in Portland, Maine. The two teams have since met each of the last two years.
Last Meeting: MIT took a 55-37 win over the Mariners last season at Ritchie Field on November 8, 2014.
The Mariners combined for 489 yards of total offense in the loss. Quarterback Michael Fahey (Union, Conn.) threw for 88 yards on six completions and a touchdown, while running for 96 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns to lead the Mariners. Jacob Doolan (Fairfield, Maine) led the team with 116 rushing yards on 17 carries, while James Ferrar (Cumberland, Maine) added 113 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns.
Maine Maritime entered halftime with a 29-21 lead, but MIT's 21 unanswered points overpowered the Mariners in the fourth quarter.
Justin Lovely (West Gardiner, Maine) led the Mariners defense with his team-high eight tackles and an interception. Johnny Weymouth (Windham, Maine) ended his day with seven tackles and a broken up pass, while Jeddy Doyon (Hampden, Maine) also recorded seven tackles for Maine Maritime.
The Engineers were led offensively by Justin Wallace's 261-yard, six-touchdown performance, while defensively Cameron Wagar picked up a game-leading 15 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss.
Maine Maritime Last Week: Michael Fahey amassed 216 yards of total offense and accounted for three touchdowns as Maine Maritime used a last-second goal-line stand to post a 47-41 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the 43rd Annual Admiral's Cup game on Saturday afternoon, at Ritchie Field.
Jacob Doolan ended the game with two touchdowns on seven carriers for 88 yards, while James Ferrar added a team-best 157 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Jeddy Doyon paced Maine Maritime defensively with 16 total tackles (seven solo), while Alex Gamester (Kittery, Maine) added 10 total tackles (four solo).
MIT Last Week: Despite scoring on their first drive, the Engineers fell to Rensselaer in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Quarterback Danny Callahan finished with a 16-for-35 day for 160 yards and one score. The Engineers were held to just 37 yards rushing by RPI, with freshman Adis Ojeda gaining 31. Seve Esparrago had five catches for a team-high 80 yards, with senior Karson Ota leading MIT with six catches, totaling 43 yards. On defense sophomore Mitch Turley led MIT with 10 tackles.
The Mariners: Michael Fahey leads the Mariners offensively with 192 rushing yards and 172 passing yards, combining for three touchdowns. James Ferrar ranks second in rushing yards with 179, while Jordan Susi (South Portland, Maine) leads the team with two receptions for 66 yards.
Jeddy Doyon leads the Mariners defensively with 19 total tackles, including 8 solo stops and Michael Burgess (North Yarmouth, Maine) leads the team with 5.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick.
The Mariners average 23.5 points per game, while allowing opponents to score an average of 35.5 points per game.
The Engineers: Quarterback Danny Callahan leads the Engineers with 548 passing yards and five touchdowns, Adis Ojeda leads the rushing attack with 270 yards on 55 carries and two touchdowns. Karson Ota leads the receivers with 183 yards on 13 catches and two touchdowns.
Defensively Mitch Turley leads the Engineers with 25 total tackles, including 14 solo tackles, two sack and 2.5 tackles for a loss. Anthony Emberley has 21 tackles, a team-best 5.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.
The Engineers average 20.3 points per game, while allowing opponents to score an average of 36.7 points per game.
Last season, the Engineers went a perfect 9-0 in the regular season, winning the NEFC Championship, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship where they fell to Wesley College.
High Honors: Following last weekend's win over Mass. Maritime, linebacker Jeddy Doyon was named the NEFC Defensive Player of the Week and freshman kicker Chad Martin (Fairfield, Maine) was named the Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.
Productive Start: In last week's win against Mass. Maritime, the Maine Maritime offense scored a touchdown on their first six drives of the game.
Kicking Record: Last week against Mass. Maritime, Chad Martin set a new Maine Maritime Game Record for Most Points Scored by Kicking. Martin kicked two field goals, and three extra-points to total nine points. The previous record was seven points, held by both Justin Hockney and Michael Brennan.

Golden Helmet: Linebacker Jeddy Doyon was awarded the New England Football Writer's Association Golden Helmet after leading the Mariners with 16 tackles against Mass. Maritime. Doyon was a vital member of the defensive effort that halted the Buccaneers touchdown hopes in the final seconds of the game. Doyon is the first Maine Maritime football player to receive the honor since 2009, when running back Jim Bower earned the award.
