Women’s swimming & diving opens 2025–26 season at Husson Relays

BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming & diving team opened its 2025–26 season on the road Friday evening at the Husson Relays.

The Mariners began the night with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of freshman Emily Metzker, sophomore Kate Griffin, junior Claire MacDonald and freshman Avery Fraga clocked a time of 2:10.55.

In the 200-yard butterfly relay, the team of seniors Kylie Cantlon and Rayelle Brewer, sophomore Natalie Cady, and MacDonald finished second with a time of 2:03.84 — just four-hundredths of a second shy of the event win.

MMA posted third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the mixed 400-yard medley relay. Metzer, Burke, Reda and Brewer placed third with a 4:17.53, while Miele, Kate Griffin, Gibbons, and Fraga finished fourth at 4:30.95, and Cady, Davis, Guillen Barcia and freshman Marin Griffin placed fifth at 4:35.42.

Brewer, Cantlon, freshman Abigail Cormier and Marin Griffin placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:02.25.

Cormier earned a third-place finish in the one-meter diving event with a score of 130.75, while Cantlon, Metzker, Kate Griffin and MacDonald took first in the 400-yard 4x100 IM relay with a winning time of 4:53.82.

In the 200-yard backstroke relay, Cady, Marin Griffin, Cormier and Fraga finished fourth at 2:21.26. The team of Kate Griffin, Cady, Cantlon and MacDonald captured another win in the 200-yard breaststroke relay, posting a time of 2:39.18.

In the mixed 400-yard freestyle relay, the Mariners' squad of Ryan Johnson Rees, Brewer, Cantlon and Tim Reda placed fourth with a time of 3:50.96, while Miele, Metzker, Fraga, and Levesque finished fifth at 3:53.28. Boyer, Marin Griffin, Cormier and Murray rounded out the evening with an eighth-place finish in 4:04.39.

Maine Maritime returns to the pool Saturday to face the University of Maine at 1 p.m. in Orono.
