BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's swimming & diving team fell in its dual meet Saturday evening, dropping decisions to Keene State College 186-88 and Husson University 176-106.
The Mariners opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as sophomores
Natalie Cady and
Kate Griffin, junior Clair MacDonald, and sophomore
Abigail Cormier recorded a time of 2:12.17.
Senior
Rayelle Brewer placed fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a 12:35.26, and freshman
Avery Fraga followed in fifth at 12:42.58. Freshman
Marin Griffin led MMA in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing fourth with a 2:13.23, while freshman
Emily Metzker added a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:12.58.
Freshman
Hannah Hills earned the Mariners' first runner-up finish of the evening, placing second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:18.67, and
Kate Griffin added a fifth-place showing at 1:24.00. MacDonald took third in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:39.30, followed by Cady in fifth at 2:51.61.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Marin Griffin placed fourth with a 27.95, and Brewer followed with a 28.31. Cormier delivered a strong second-place performance in the one-meter, six-dive event, posting a score of 121.10.
Marin Griffin then added a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:00.97.
Metzker (2:35.95) and Cady (2:43.98) notched solid swims in the 200-yard backstroke, while Hills secured her second runner-up finish of the night with a 2:53.47 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Kate Griffin placed fifth in the event at 3:00.00.
Brewer and Fraga took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle with times of 6:12.15 and 6:13.28. MacDonald picked up a Mariners win in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a 1:05.00, and Cormier added another second-place finish in the one-meter, five-dive event with a score of 109.95.
MacDonald and Metzker placed fifth and seventh in the 200-yard IM with times of 2:35.63 and 2:40.55 before Maine Maritime wrapped up the meet with third- and sixth-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching in 4:17.97 and 4:39.83.
The Mariners return to action Dec. 5–6 at the two-day State of Maine Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Championship hosted by Colby College.
