BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Maine Maritime Academy senior forward Sydney Briscoe (Englewood, N.J./Immaculate Conception Montclair High School) made her debut on the Scoutware/D3hoops.com National Team of the Week, the media outlet that covers NCAA Division III basketball announced on Tuesday.

In addition, Briscoe was chosen to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll First Team.

She becomes the first Maine Maritime women's basketball student-athlete to earn D3TOW honors since Shelley Gott-Stilwell in 2007-Week 8 and receives the fifth citation in program history. In addition, with Curt Heinz making MMA men's basketball history last month, the Mariners have placed multiple winners in the same season for the first time in 18 years. In a 65-46 conference victory at Thomas College, she put up 17 points and a game-high 16 rebounds while recording five blocked shots.

On Monday, Briscoe was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

This is the 28th season that D3hoops.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week

The Mariners are in action this week for a pair of NAC encounters at UMaine-Farmington (Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.) and at home against local rival Husson (Saturday, 1 p.m.). The latter game against the Eagles will feature National Girls and Women in Sports Day with an opportunity to receive poster autographs of MMA female student-athletes.
