ALFRED, N.Y. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's wrestling team returned to the mat on Sunday finishing 10th at the Alfred State University Women's Open.
The Mariners finished with 26 points led by freshman
Mary Smith who finished third overall. Smith who dropped her opening match of the day, battled back to win four-straight decisions by fall to claim third.
Freshman
Kelly Malcolm posted a fourth-place podium, finishing 1-3 on the day, winning her second match by decision 9-3.
Additionally, sophomore
Kylie Coxon and senior
Piper Baumgarten also competed for the Mariners.
MMA returns to the mat on Friday when they host the University of Bridgeport for a 6 p.m. dual.
