Men's basketball adds Roberts to 2026-27 recruiting class

CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Dylan Roberts to its 2026 recruiting class, the second under Head Coach Cedric Gillette.

Roberts, a 6'1" guard from Burleson, Texas, joins the Mariners after a successful career at Burleson Centennial High School. A knockdown perimeter shooter, Roberts averaged 8.3 points per game as a senior while shooting an outstanding 41% from three-point range. His shooting ability and consistency helped power Burleson Centennial to Bi-District Championship, Byron-Johnston Invitational Championship, and Mavs Fall Classic Championship seasons.

Throughout his high school career, Roberts earned numerous individual honors, including Second Team All-District 8-5A, Second Team All-Johnson County, District 8-5A All-Academic, First Team All-Tournament at the Byron-Johnston Invitational, and All-Tournament Team honors at the Coppell Winter Classic. He also etched his name into the school record books by setting Burleson Centennial's single-season record with 87 made three-pointers, a testament to his elite shooting ability.

Away from the court, Roberts enjoys journaling, playing video games, and listening to music. He chose Maine Maritime Academy because it immediately felt like home and provides the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves while preparing for a successful future after basketball. Roberts plans to major in International Business & Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy.

What They're Saying About Dylan Roberts

Cedric Gillette, Head Coach, Maine Maritime:
"We are really excited to add Dylan to our program. He is an absolute lights-out three-point shooter, and I think our fans are going to love watching him play. What makes him so difficult to guard is how hard he works to get shots. Dylan has elite conditioning and is constantly moving, sprinting off screens, relocating, and making defenders chase him around the floor. That's a skill set that fits our offensive system really well.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has been really good to us when it comes to shooters, and we expect Dylan to be the next guy in that line. We've had a lot of success recruiting players from that area, and when we started evaluating Dylan, we knew he had the ability to make a similar impact. He's a confident shooter, but he's also a competitor who understands how to play the game the right way.

We first identified Dylan at TABC last summer, and from there we continued building the relationship. We were finally able to get him to campus this spring, had a great visit, and everything just felt right. Dylan is a great person, and fits exactly what we're looking for both on and off the court. I can't wait to get him on campus and see him knocking down shots in a Mariner uniform."

Justin Lovorn, Director, Shooters HQ:
"Dylan is a prolific shooter who has established himself as a go-to marksmen on every team he has been a part of. He plays the game the right way, and with great energy, speed, and competitiveness. He is a a gym rat that will continue to improve year after year and contribute to winning."

Larry Petite, Head Coach, Burleson Centennial:
"I'm incredibly excited to see you continue your basketball journey at Maine Maritime Academy. Your work ethic, toughness, and commitment to improving every day have always stood out. You're not only a talented player but also a high-character young man who leads by example. Maine Maritime is getting a competitor who will represent the program with pride, both on and off the court. I can't wait to see all that you accomplish. Congratulations, and keep chasing greatness!"

John Bloom, Owner, Elevated Athletes:
"Dylan is one of the most consistent athletes you will find. No matter what day it is, you can count on Dylan showing up to work, having an elite mindset, and making everyone around him better."

Keith Moultry, Assistant Coach, Burleson Centennial:
"Dylan became one of our leaders from day one when he stepped on our campus at Burleson Centennial. He was a leader not only on the court but in the classroom as well. Great work ethic and has a one of one will to compete. Great 3 and D style of player."
