CASTINE, Maine -- New England College rallied from a 31-25 halftime deficit to beat Maine Maritime 64-54 in a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game Friday. The Pilgrims improved to 2-20 overall, 2-13 NAC while the Mariners fell to 4-16, 3-11.

Four players reached double figures for Maine Maritime led by Logan Poirier's 15 points. Andy Ball added 14, Paul Campbell 11 and Tyler Chiasson 10. Poirier also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Abdirahman Mohamed scored a game-high 31 points for NEC and surpassed the 1,000 career points plateau.

Maine Maritime jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the game before the Pilgrims responded to eventually even the game at 10-10 with 15:06 left in the first half. The Mariners went on a 15-3 run, capped by a pair Ben Russell free throws, with 9:47 remaining in the first. A Ball layup, and free throw, at 4:11 put MMA ahead 28-17. The Pilgrims ended the half with an 8-2 scoring run to cut their deficit to six, 31-25, at the break.

New England College opened the second half with a 9-2 run, four from Mohamed, two by Rob Cassell and a three from Ryan Schmitz, to lead 34-33 with 17:50 left in the game. The Pilgrims led by four, 43-39, with 10:38 but the Mariners netted four unanswered to even the game for the third, and final, time 43-43 with 10:11 left. NEC outscored the Mariners 15-7 in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

Maine Maritime returns to action Saturday hosting Colby-Sawyer at 3 p.m.
