Mariners 10th at State Championship; Martin Leads Maine Maritime Charge

FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime finished in 10th place among the 11 teams competing at the State of Maine Championships, hosted by Maine-Farmington on Saturday. Caroline Martin (Scarborough, Maine) was the Mariners top runner, finishing 104th place in the field of 144.

Martin turned in a 24:58, running the five-kilometer course at an 8:03 pace. Colby's Alanna McDonough logged a 19:23 for first place, leading the Mules to the meet title.

Kristine Mehuren (Searsmont, Maine) ran a 27:25 for 125th place, while Elin Sonesson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) crossed at 28:28 for 129th overall. Ellie Perkins (Kennebunk, Maine) crossed 137th with a time of 30:27, followed by Alice Stenquist (Bath, Maine) in 140th at 31:47. Olivia Burke (China, Maine) rounded out the Mariners' efforts with a 31:58 for 142nd place.

Maine Maritime returns to action in two weeks at the North Atlantic Conference Championships.
