LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fought back from a 16-point deficit to defeat NVU-Lyndon, 70-69 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Stannard Gymnasium.

How it Happened: The two teams battled closely in the beginning, but the Hornets took a 36-25 lead into halftime and jumped out to a 16-point lead with 15:38 remaining in the game. The Mariners fought back and took a 61-60 advantage at 5:29 following seven-straight points from Riley Jorgenson (Vienna, Va.).

Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) used a three-point play to give the Mariners a 70-67 lead with 15 seconds left and Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) recorded a steal as time expired to give Maine Maritime the victory.

Inside the Numbers: Jorgenson net a career-high 23 points, while adding seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Richardson ended the afternoon with 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal and Andrew Liebert (Plano, Texas) added 14 points, five assists, and three rebounds.

Kevin Love and Damon Denteh led the Hornets with 14 points each, Love contributed eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block and Denteh chipped in with six assists, five rebounds and a steal. Corey Frost added 11 points and two assists and Zach Falkenburg tallied 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

The Mariners shot 43.5 percent from the floor, while the Hornets shot 44.1 percent. Lyndon held a narrow 37-36 edge in rebounds, but committed 19 turnovers while the Mariners committed 17.

Up Next: The Mariners improve to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the NAC, while the Hornets drop to 2-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, December 4 at Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 7:30 pm.

For the first time since 2012-2013 the Mariners open up NAC play with a 2-0 record, and this weekend's sweep is the first time since 2003-2004 that the Mariners went 2-0 during a weekend conference doubleheader on the road.
