GORHAM, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's wrestling team returned to the mat on Saturday, competing at the Ted Reese Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
Sophomore Trevor Llewlyn represented the Mariners at 133 pounds, finishing 0-2 on the day, while freshman
Michael Rollins competed at 184 pounds. Rollins posted a 2-2 record, earning a win by fall and a 4-3 decision.
Also at 184, sophomore
Kyle Stickel went 1-2 with a 10-6 decision victory.
Sophomore
Gregory Brunk wrestled at 197 pounds and finished 2-2, claiming a win by fall.
In the 285-pound bracket, freshmen
Wyatt Weaver and
Takuma Steinberger both took the mat for MMA. Steinberger finished 1-2 with a first-period fall, while Weaver recorded a 2-2 day highlighted by an opening-round fall and another pin in the consolation bracket.
The Mariners wrapped up the event with 15.5 team points and seven individual victories.
Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday at the Roger Williams Open in Bristol, Rhode Island. Competition is set to begin at 9 a.m.
