PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Sophomore
Kyle Stickel picked up two wins to headline Maine Maritime Academy men's wrestling's showing at the Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Open Invitational on Saturday.
Stickel finished 2-2 on the day at 184, dropping his opening match by fall before winning by decision 11-4 in the consolation over Matthew Klein and picking up a win by fall over Andrew Pappas in the second period before dropping his final match by fall in the second round.
Sophomore
Trevor Llewellyn finished the open 0-2 on the day at 133, while sophomore
Gavin Ripley dropped two hard-fought decision on the day, loosing 1-0 in his opening match and 13-7 in the consolation bracket.
Sophomore
Wyndham Freeman finished 0-2 dropping his two matches by fall, while sophomore
Andrew Morrow finished 0-2 at 184.
Freshman
Connor Cuba competed for the Mariners at 197, going 0-2 on the day, while freshman
Takuma Steinberger picked up MMA's remaining win on the day in the consolation bracket. Steinberger dropped his opening match by fall before winning by fall his in second appearance and finished the event 1-2 on the day.
Next up for the Mariners is a trip to Northfield, Vermont on Saturday for a dual meet with host Norwich University and Felician University beginning at 11 a.m.
