The 2004-2005 Women's Basketball won the NAC Championship with a 24-5 record, becoming the first team in Mariners Athletics history to make it to the NCAA Tournament and to reach 20 wins in a season. This squad was also the first program to win over a nationally ranked opponent, beating the University of Mary Washington.
 
The 2004-2005 team consisted of the NAC Player of the Year, NAC First-Team All-Conference Selection, and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Second Team All-State Selection, Alyssa Burns, along with NAC Second Team All-Conference Selection and NAC Tournament MVP, Shelley Gott. This group was led by Head Coach, Craig Dagan and Assistant Coach, Katrina Dagan who received NAC Co-Coach of the Year honors.
