Smith, the first recruited female athlete at Maine Maritime Academy, was on the first-ever women’s varsity basketball team, and served as the first-ever female cadet Chief Engineer. A three-year team captain, Smith led the Mariners to three North Atlantic Conference Championships.
Smith ranks first all-time in steals per game, (2.9), second all-time in steals (245) and fifth all-time in games started. Smith ranks 17th all-time with 512 career points, and remained ranked in the top 20 in five other statistical categories. Smith led the Mariners in steals and assists in 1996-1997, 1997-1998 and 1999-2000, and blocked shots in 1996-1997.
In each four years of play, Smith ranks in the top 20 for steals per season, and assists per season.
