The 2010-2011 Sailing National Championship Team was one of the most successful offshore sailing teams in Mariners history, winning the Kennedy Cup in 2010 and then representing the United States at the 31st Student Yachting World Cup (SYWoC) in 2011.

Cabral, Markley, Bispham, Newton, Joseph, Fraley, Poole, Butcka, and Vickers, along with Head Coach, Tom Brown, made up the crew that took the Kennedy Cup to Maine Maritime for the first time in school’s history. This crew dominated the competition, seizing the lead on Friday evening and never relinquishing it throughout the weekend.

Butcka, Doyen, Fraley, Howe, Joseph, Newton, Poole, and Vickers were selected to represent Maine Maritime and the United States in the World Cup in La Trinite-Sur-Mer, France in October 2011. The crew finished 11th among the 15 competing nations after five days of races. The Mariners finished in 10th place in each of the final three races on the last day of competition. MMA had ranked as high as fifth in the overall standings at the end of the first day.
